Basic Instructions using BCC Body Paint

Body Color Cosmetics One Color Cake Waterproof Body Paint delivers intense, long-lasting color that holds up through sweat, water, and performance lighting. Activated with our Mixing Liquid, these professional-grade cakes glide on smoothly with a brush or sponge, dry to a smudge-resistant finish, and remove easily with oils or makeup remover. Perfect for face, body, cosplay, SFX, and stage artistry.

Before You Begin

  • Skin Prep: For best results, apply to clean, dry, oil-free skin. If desired, use an alcohol-based skin prep (like 70% isopropyl alcohol) to remove surface oils and help the paint bond better.

  • Test First: If you have sensitive skin, do a patch test before full application.

Step-by-Step Application

1. Prepare Your Brush Rinse Cup

Pour a small amount of Mixing Liquid or 91-99% Isopropyl Alcohol (rubbing alcohol) for brush cleaning between colors.

2. Activate the Paint

Spray 1–2 pumps of Mixing Liquid directly onto the surface of the cake, or you can use a dropper to put 1-3 drops of Mixing Liquid on the cake.

Using your brush or sponge, stroke back and forth until the paint reaches a smooth, creamy consistency. Avoid adding too much liquid to prevent over-thinning.

3. Apply to the Skin

Paint or sponge onto the skin just as you would with traditional face or body paint.

  • Brush Tips: Use firm, even strokes for crisp lines.

  • Sponge Tips: Load sponge evenly, dab gently for smooth coverage, or stipple for texture effects.

4. Rinse and Reload

To change colors, swish your brush in the rinse cup, wipe on a clean towel until excess paint is gone, and then repeat Step 2 for the next color.

Tool Cleaning After Use

Brushes

  1. Swish in Mixing Liquid or 99% Isopropyl Alcohol until paint is fully dissolved.

  2. Wipe excess paint on a clean towel.

  3. Wash with mild soap and warm water, rinse well, reshape bristles, and allow to air dry.

Sponges

  • Reusable: Dip in Mixing Liquid, 99% isopropyl alcohol or micellar water for waterproof makeup, squeeze out excess pigment, then wash with soap and water.

  • Disposable: Cosmetic wedges can be discarded after use for sanitation.

Mixing Liquid Reuse Tip: If painting only yourself, you can let pigment settle to the bottom, pour off the clear liquid into a clean container, and reuse it.

Removal

When you’re ready to remove your design:

Oil-Based Removal

  • Use coconut oil, mineral oil, or baby oil.

  • Warm oil slightly for easier breakdown.

  • Massage onto painted skin until paint starts moving. Let sit 1–2 minutes, then wipe away gently.

Direct Removers

  • Some makeup removers or our Mixing Liquid can be applied directly for quick removal.

Final Wash

After most of the paint is gone, wash with soap and water as usual.

Pro Tip: The longer the paint has been worn, the easier it is to remove.

Paint Care & Storage

  • Wipe away any unwanted color mixing on the cake before storing.

  • Spray one pump of Mixing Liquid on the cake before capping to keep it from drying out.

  • Store in a cool, dry place. Avoid extreme heat (over 150°F / 65.5°C) to prevent melting.

  • Keep away from direct sunlight for prolonged periods.

Additional Tips

  • For Performers: Apply setting powder over your finished design for extra durability.

  • Layering Colors: Let the first layer dry completely before adding details or second coats to prevent smudging.

  • Special Effects: Try dry brushing for texture or blending two colors on the brush for gradients.

  • Safety Reminder: Not for use on broken skin. Avoid eye area unless labeled as safe for cosmetic use around eyes.
